AP E-News

Good morning AP Members and Friends,

The season of Epiphany (a word meaning "reveal") is when God introduces his Son to the world and the world to his Son.  This Sunday we are brought to the Jordan River for the baptism of Jesus where God loudly proclaims Jesus to be his Son, with whom he is well pleased.  His Son will redeem the world so that God might say the same for each of us.  This gift of salvation is given to us in a special way - through baptism.  Come Sunday to hear more.

Prayer Notes:

- Longtime professor at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, James Tiefel, was brought home to heaven this week.  Prof. Tiefel had a great influence on many of our WELS pastors as the music/worship director and dean of chapel at the Seminary.  This Sunday we will be singing one of the hymns he wrote - #377 ("To Jordan's River Came Our Lord").  We thank the Lord for this servant of the Lord and his contributions to our church body.  We pray for peace and joy for his wife, Brenda, and the family.

Other Notes:

- Bible studies resumed last week and continue this Sunday.  A great new year resolution is to include this 45 minutes into your Sunday routine.

- Sign up Sunday to help with the tree cutting and clearing (part 2 of our post-hurricane chain saw day) that is scheduled for Saturday, January 24th, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

- APA Open House (for preschool and K-8) is next Thursday (1/15) from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.

- On Sunday, look for a sign-up sheet to serve on Sunday mornings (usher, greeter, etc.).  If you are already serving, and wish to continue, there is no need for you to sign up.

- A new Bible Information Class will start on Sunday, February 1 (in the Fellowship Hall, right after second service).  Sign up Sunday.

- Sunday, after the second service, we will take down and put away the Christmas decorations. If you can help - great!

- A new Wednesday Bible study kicked off yesterday, but it's not too late to join the discussion.  Look for posters in the entryway - "Hard Sayings of Jesus."

- A new Thursday evening study begins next Thursday at our Easley location (101 NE Main St) that begins at 6:00 p.m, entitled: "Essential Christianity."  All are invited.

Those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries the week of January 11-17 (to extend a greeting, if you wish):

"Happy Birthday" to: Terry Beach (11), Dylan Tipton (11), Janis Giordanelli (12), Steve Kirk (13), Penelope Busacca (13), Christa Christ (14), Steve Boyles (17), Ethan Corbin (17), and Roberta Peak (17).

That's all for this week.

God's blessings on your day.

- Pastor Duane
